BREAKING NEWS: Current full text of proposed Portland ordinance to…
“Prohibit the use and purchase of neonicotinoid pesticides by the City of Portland; amend Integrated Pest Management strategies; and urge retailers operating within the City of Portland to label plants, seeds, and products containing neonicotinoid pesticides.”
At 2 p.m. on March 25th the Portland City Commissioners are holding a public hearing to discuss an important policy change to protect bees. We urge you to support this ordinance. If passed, it will save pollinators by prohibiting the use of neonicotinoid insecticides (“neonics”) on city property.
The hearing will be held in the Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of the Portland City Hall (google map). Please come and lend your voice to help protect Portland’s pollinators.
What if I can’t attend the hearing on March 25?
Your written comments are also important. If you cannot attend please take a moment to visit our Take Action page and send an email or call the City Commissioners. Urge the City Commissioners to do the right thing: stop neonicotinoid use on city property. Please submit comments by Tuesday, March 31st. The Commissioners need to receive your comments by March 31 because they will vote on April 1st. (See Take Action to Protect Portland’s Pollinators)
